Believed to be one of the strongest sea forts in India from yester years Murud Janjira Fort is one of the most well maintained sea forts in Maharashtra. A visit to the fort is amongst the most popular things to do in Kashid where you get to travel in a sail boat in the creek to the island fort. The ferry across to the fort in itself is very exciting.
Padmadurg or Kasa fort is a much smaller fort than Murud Janjira built to to attack Murud Janjira. Kasa fort is one of the five historical sea forts built by Shivaji Maharaj and currently falls in the protected monument of the Archaeological Survey of India. To visit the fort a permission from the customs department has to be procured. It is just adventurous to visit the fort as very few people manage to visit the Kasa fort. Private boats has to be hired to visit Padmadurg as regular ferries are not available to visit Padmadurg or Kasa fort.
Camping in Murud Janjira is very popular and many campsites in Murud Janjira have cropped up. The Murud Janjira beach itself doesnt have basic infra structure like clean toilets for camping. The organized campsites offer the basic requirements and also include activities like campfire to give a authentic feel to the camping experiance. Although camping in Murud Janjira alone is possible, since it is not very popular and campers dont camp every day it is better to camp out in Murud Janjira in groups. PS: Take prior permission.

Although Kashid or Murud doesnt offer a fish tank like experiance individual deep sea dives can be organized with advance intimation.
With over 720 species of flora and 279 species of fauna that include mammals, birds and butterflies a trek in Phansad wild life sanctuary is an interesting digression during a beach holiday to Murud Janjira. Owing to the hilly terrain you would need to be extremely lucky to spot a larger mammal like leopard or barking deer however Phansad is a paradise for bird watchers and lepidopterist! Phansad claims to be home to over 90 species of butterflies along with numerous species of avians!!
Phansad is located 15 kms away from Murud Janjira beach and generally a visit to the beach or the forts is coupled with a visit to the bird sanctuary.
